MAAME, Inc. (Mobilizing African American Mothers through Empowerment) empowers Black, Brown, Indigenous, and other Birthing People of color and those historically excluded to navigate systems during pregnancy and postpartum. We offer resources that will mobilize, educate, serve, and train the next generation of birth workers of color. Our mission is to provide support for holistic maternal health, wellness, sustainable communities, and economic advancement.
MAAME, Inc’s “It Takes A Village” Perinatal Health community-driven model provides Black, Indigenous, other Birthing People of Color, and those in need, access to community-driven perinatal services to support individuals and families from birth and beyond. Our services are culturally inclusive and include:
- Healthcare navigation
- Individualized care plan
- Birth and Postpartum doula support and home-visits
- Lactation Support
- Maternal Mental Health Support (one-on-one therapy, peer support, and monthly groups)
- Family planning guidance
- Access to community health nurses and other specialists
- Transportation for medical care and health education classes
- Community referrals locally and across the states
- Monthly educational classes, workshops and events for birthing people and their families
