The Nurturing Durham Helpline is a companion resource to the Nurturing Durham website, providing users the option to speak with a local navigator by phone or text.

Helpline staff (“navigators”) can help families identify, learn more about, and connect with the programs currently listed on this website.

Please note, we will provide recommendations and information to Helpline callers, but cannot make direct referrals to other organizations.

If a Helpline caller has a question not related to the content of this website, our navigators may suggest other resource guides, but will not be able to provide program recommendations.

The Helpline is for parents and caregivers who are pregnant or raising young children in Durham, NC. Relatives, providers and anyone supporting a young child or family are welcome to contact us as well.

Representatives of programs interested in sharing their resources on Nurturing Durham must submit a contact form through our website’s Contact page. Helpline staff are not equipped to respond to this kind of inquiry, and Helpline messages requesting the consideration or addition of a particular resource will not be answered.

This line is staffed by real people right here in Durham between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. Reach out during those hours for the quickest response.  

Any other time, just leave a voice mail or send a text message, and expect a call back from a Helpline Navigator during our staff hours. 

Helpline Navigators will ask for the:

  • Full name of the adult who contacts us
  • Phone number and/or email for follow up, 
  • Age of the child (or children) in the family, 
  • Zip code where the family lives, and 
  • Reason for the call (i.e.- the types of service/support the family is seeking)  
If you are texting or leaving a voice mail, please provide as much of this information as possible in your message.

Nurturing Durham may contact you to provide additional resources and/or ask about your experience with our services. 

Personal information provided to HelpLine staff will never be used or shared for commercial uses.

In addition, any Helpline data reported to outside partners will not include names or personally identifiable information.
