ISLA (Immersion for Spanish Language Acquisition) builds community and leadership through educational Spanish language and cultural immersion programs and assist Latine/Latino/x parents access resources and information to raise their students, particularly resources for navigating the education system in order to work towards an equitable society.
ISLA seeks to address the need for a culturally affirming education space for Latine students and families in North Carolina, where students have equal opportunity for academic success and caretakers can receive the resources necessary to advocate for their children. A historically underserved group due to numerous barriers, ISLA exists to bridge the academic achievement and opportunity gaps for the Latine community.
