It is difficult to be the caregivers we want to be when we are not well cared for ourselves. The following programs offer specialized health or mental health services for parents and adults.
Durham Resources
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.
Alliance Health Access and Information Center
Referrals to mental, substance abuse and behavioral health professionals for families with Medicaid or with no insurance; also serves as a 24/7 behavioral health crisis line
Durham Crisis Response Center
The Durham Crisis Response Center (DCRC) is the place for anyone in Durham who has experienced domestic, family or sexual violence or human trafficking to find safety and support.
El Futuro
Outpatient, culturally affirming mental health evaluations, therapy, and treatment in Spanish for adults and children ages 6+.
Empowered Parents in Community (EPiC)
EPiC organizes and supports Black parents and their allies in its mission to dismantle systemic racial inequities and advocate for high quality educational opportunities.
Family Connects Durham
No cost, short term nurse home visits for families with newborn babies.
MAAME, Inc.
MAAME, Inc. empowers Black, Brown, Indigenous, and other Birthing People of color and those historically excluded to navigate systems during pregnancy and postpartum
Milestones Pediatric and Maternal Nutrition
Free Breastfeeding Support Groups provide the opportunity to talk directly with an IBCLC, complete a weighted feeding session, and connect with other moms
Postpartum Support International
HelpLine (text/call support) and comprehensive support network, including support groups and additional resources, for parents facing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders or struggles in the transition to parenthood.
Samaritan Health Center
A primary care clinic providing medical and vision services to uninsured community members.
The Village Durham
The Village Durham pairs families in crisis with a Family Advocate who can serve as a support for them with various needs including job training, employment, housing, nutrition, mental health, parenting education, and more.
